RN-Uvatneftegas Supported Publication of the First Book on Specially Protected Natural Areas in Tyumen Region

19 April 2022

RN-Uvatneftegaz, a production enterprise of Rosneft Oil Company, has supported the publication of the book Specially Protected Natural Areas in the Tyumen Region. The publication contains scientific data on federal and regional nature reserves and nature monuments of regional significance for the first time.

The authors of the publication - scientists and ecologists of the region - have consolidated the results of many years' research of unique territories of the Tyumen region and the species diversity of the local fauna. The book provides information on 102 territories that form the ecological base of the region, its hydrological sites and plants, red-listed and rare species of animals and birds, such as the siberian crane, white-tailed sea eagle, northern goshawk, willow grouse, black stork, ermine and others.

Environment protection and preservation for future generations is an integral part of the corporate culture and business principles of Rosneft.

In line with Company policy, RN-Uvatneftegaz is working systematically to minimise the environmental impact of its operations. Significant funds are allocated annually to implement targeted environmental programmes as follows: rational use of associated petroleum gas, improvement of pipeline reliability, and disposal of drilling cuttings.

RN-Uvatneftegaz has reduced its production water consumption from natural sources by 1.5 times over the past five years through water recycling. Drilling waste disposal volumes at the Uvat project have increased by 75%.

To achieve its carbon neutrality goals, RN-Uvatneftegaz uses the latest technology, in particular unmanned aerial vehicles to monitor greenhouse gas levels at oil production and transportation facilities.

Environmental monitoring is performed at all of the enterprise's production sites and the number of component samples taken has increased by 22% over the past three years.

RN-Uvatneftegaz is also doing extensive work to conserve and restore natural resources. The Company has planted almost 3 million pine seedlings in the region over the past five years and released more than 6.5 million fry of valuable fish species into the rivers. Last year, 7 tonnes of paper were sent for recycling.

RN-Uvatneftegaz employees, taking personal initiative, participate in federal and regional environmental actions, such as Green Spring and Water of Russia.
