Rosneft Releases More Than 7.2 Million Fry into Rivers in Tyumen Region and Yugra

31 August 2022

Rosneft's facilities in Tyumen Oblast released into the rivers of Ob-Irtysh basin more than 7.2 million fry of high-valued fish. This was done as part of the activities for the rehabilitation of aquatic biological resources. In particular, employees of RN-Uvatneftegaz released nelma, muksun and peled, RN-Nyaganneftegaz took care of muksun and Tyumenneftegas freed whitefish.

Preservation of the environment is an integral part of the corporate culture of Rosneft. The Company aims to achieve leadership positions in minimising the environmental impact and ensuring the eco-friendliness of its production and implements several comprehensive programmes for the preservation and restoration of natural resources.

The quantitative and qualitative indicators of fry were confirmed by representatives of the Nizhneobskiy Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Fishery together with ecologists of the enterprises. Fry are raised to a weight of at least 1.5 grams at the region's fish factories on the oil industry's order. This provides endurance and rapid adaptation of fry to natural conditions, which generally contributes to the maintenance and diversity of existing population systems. In the rivers of the Ob-Irtysh basin, fries will grow into full-grown fishes, then migrate downstream to other waters of the region and beyond.

Rosneft subsidiaries pay special attention to the environmental safety of the region. Taking care of water resources is one of the priority areas of Rosneft's environmental activities.
