Employees of RN-Uvatneftegaz (part of Rosneft’s oil and gas production complex) visited the Khanty camps in the Uvat district of the Tyumen region. The oil workers discussed issues related to economic activities, fishing in hunting grounds and other key aspects of cooperation with representatives of the indigenous peoples. As part of the programme to support indigenous minorities, representatives of RN-Uvatneftegaz handed over to the families of the indigenous inhabitants of Rogais and Ust-Urna villages special equipment to ensure comfortable living conditions in the taiga: motor pumps, brush cutters and various fishing equipment. The enterprise also helped prepare children for school.
Supporting the indigenous peoples of the North to preserve their national culture, traditional way of life and improve their living conditions is an important area of Rosneft’s social activities in its operating regions.
RN-Uvatneftegaz systematically supports the indigenous peoples living in the Uvat district. The enterprise helps local people with food supplies, provides access to winter roads and ice crossings built for production, provides fuel for camps and pays for young people’s education at colleges and universities each year. Over the past few years, oil workers have donated more than 100 items of equipment to northern indigenous minority families in the Uvat district, including snowmobiles, boat motors, electric generators, motor pumps and chainsaws.
For a number of years, the Company has organised a fair for the goods of the indigenous people of the Uvat district at the Malyk field. The successful format of interaction between the local population and oil workers has acquired the status of the Festival of the Indigenous Peoples of the North of the Tyumen region. Among other things, the event serves as an effective platform to discuss issues of interaction between the oil production enterprise, the district administration and the indigenous peoples, and to provide targeted support for them.
